Vernal G. Weaver

Vernal G. Weaver, 95, of Martinsburg, formerly of Spring Street, Saxton, PA; passed away on Sunday, March 11, 2018 at Homewood Retirement Center.  She was born on August 6, 1922 in St. Thomas, PA; a daughter of the late James N. and Esther M. (Stevens) Andrews.  She was first united in marriage to Warren R. Piper on April 13, 1949 in Hagerstown, MD; he preceded her in death on July 18, 1979.  On January 20, 1993 she married John “Jack” Weaver; he preceded her in death on March 11, 2014. 

She is survived by a daughter Janet married to LeRoy Mooney, Chambersburg, PA and a sister Mary Lou Haman, St. Thomas, PA; four grandchildren: Kyle Mooney, Lawauna Mooney, Stacy Mooney and Shawn Mooney; numerous great grandchildren and two special friends Audrey Black and Cathy Knee.

She was preceded in death by two sisters Pauline and Ruth and her constant companion her dog “Laddie”.

She was a member of the Saxton First Church of God and former member of Chambersburg First Church of God.

Vernal was a homemaker throughout her life time and was a member of the Broad Top Area Senior Center.

Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at 12:00 Noon at the Akers Funeral Chapel with Lay Minister James Snyder officiating.

Friends may call at Akers Funeral Chapel, 715 Church Street, Saxton, PA, on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 from 11:00 A.M. until the hour of service at the funeral chapel.

Burial will be held privately at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Edenville, PA.
