Thelma Louise Hale, 91, recently died in Greensboro, NC of complications related to cardiovascular disease. She was born in 1927 in Everett, Pa., a daughter of the late Raymond Edward and Anna Belle (Weicht) Bussard. She was married to Jacob Andrew Hale of Hopewell, Pa. who preceded her in death in 1965. She continued to reside in Erie, Pa. until she moved to Greensboro in 2013.
Two sons and their spouses survive her: Wayne and Lynn (Hudson) Hale of Greensboro, NC and Bryan and Elizabeth “Libby” (Butterfield) Hale of Smithsburg, MD. Also her five loving grandchildren: Chris Hale, Kate (Hale) Craft, Drew Hale, Jacob Hale and Emily Hale, and six great-grandchildren: Liam, Corbin, Braxton, Aveleen, Preston and Logan. She is survived by brother: Gary “Pete” Bussard of Everett and preceded in death by siblings: Mildred Beegle, Raymond Bussard, Carl Bussard, Boyd Bussard, Dennis Bussard, George Bussard, John Bussard, and Betty Jane Wigfield.
Mrs. Hale was a graduate of Everett Area High School class of 1944. During WWII she worked for the U.S. War Department in Washington, D.C. After her husband’s death she earned her LPN license and worked as a pediatric nurse until retirement. She loved traveling, reading, playing Scrabble and the fellowship of membership in Wesleyville Baptist Church. She was a loving mother, faithful Christian, and genuine representative of the “greatest generation”.
Family and friends may call at the Akers Funeral Home, Inc., 299 Raystown Road, Everett on Friday, Nov. 16 from 6 – 8 p.m. and on Saturday Nov. 17 from 10 a.m. until the hour of the service.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 17th in the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home, Everett with Pastor John Geyer officiating. Burial will follow at Yellow Creek Reformed Cemetery.
