Shirley A. (Painter) Effler

Shirley A. (Painter) Effler, 73, of Breezewood, PA; passed into the loving arms of her savior on Monday, February 26, 2018 after a nineteen year courageous battle with cancer.  She was born on October 24, 1944; the daughter of the late W. Elvin and Marian (Whetstone) Swartzwelder. 

On June 10, 2005 she was united in marriage to Jearl Effler, he survives her along with children Connie wife of Tim Riley, Breezewood, PA, L. Timothy Painter and wife Louise, Bedford, PA; four step-children, Jerald Effler and wife Nancy, DeKalb, IL, Michael, Janet and Gary Effler, all of Minnesota; five grandchildren Coty Riley and wife Taylor, Corey Riley, and Brendon, Brad and Kyler Painter; three step grandchildren; two great step grandchildren; siblings D. Kay Smith, Breezewood, PA, William Swartzwelder and wife Cheryl, LaPlata, MD, Mary Lutz and husband Ron, Hagerstown, MD and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother-in-law Richard Smith.

Shirley retired after over twenty years as a front desk manager at the Ramada Inn.  She was a lifetime member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Breezewood where she served as an usher and on church council.

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, who loved her family immensely.

Friends and Family may call at the Akers Funeral Home Inc., 299 Raystown Road, Everett, PA on Thursday, March 1, 2018 from 4-8 P.M. and on Friday from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service at the church.

Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 2, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at the Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, 16651 Lincoln Hwy, Breezewood, PA 15533 with Rev. Judith Simonson officiating.

Burial will be held at Mt. Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
