Shirley M. Mills

Shirley M. Mills, 84, formerly of Churchview Road, Loysburg, PA; passed away on Sunday, September 1, 2019 at Homewood Retirement Center in Martinsburg.  She was born on May 12, 1935 in Everett, Pennsylvania; a daughter of the late Earl J. Welsh and Mamie E. (Pepple) Welsh Boor and step-father Oscar Boor.  On May 11, 1955 in Winchester, VA; she was united in marriage to Ronald E. Mills.  He preceded her in death on October 1, 2016.

She is survived by her daughter, Sherry, married to William Obert, Bedford, PA; and a brother Victor Boor.

She was preceded in death by a brother Joseph Boor and sister Helen Tucker.

Shirley was a graduate of Robert P. Smith High School Class of 1953 and graduate of Bucknell University School of Banking.

She was a member of Yellow Creek Church of the Brethren.  Over Shirley's forty-one- year career of banking she started at the New Enterprise Bank later becoming the Midstate Bank and then Keystone Financial where she retired from in 1994 as branch manager.

She was a member of numerous social clubs in the Southern Cove area.  Shirley enjoyed traveling and attending sporting events for Northern Bedford, Penn State, and Pittsburgh teams.  She loved animals and had three special pets, Poodles, Claudine and Babe and a cat Sammy.

Family and Friends may call at the Akers Funeral Home, Inc. 299 Raystown Road, Everett on Thursday, September 5, 2019 from 2:00 P.M. -6:00 P.M. and on Friday from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service at the funeral home.

Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 6, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Benner officiating.

Burial will be held at Everett Cemetery.
