S. JoAnn King, 84, of Ritchey Road, Everett, PA; passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2019 at Colonial Courtyard. She was born on March 28, 1935 in Everett, Pennsylvania; a daughter of the late Lorenzo “Cap” and Nellie M. (Stayer) Ritchey. On April 11, 1953 in Cumberland, Maryland, she was united in marriage to Gerald H. King.
Along with her husband of sixty-six years she is survived by daughters Brenda married to Randy F. Brant, New Paris, PA; Christy married to Dale Chamberlain; Karen married to Mark Evans; and Bethany Colledge, all of Everett, PA; grandchildren Matthew, Aaron, Tamara, Macey and Brooke; ten great grandchildren; siblings Florence Mock, Martinsburg, PA; Lorenzo “June” Ritchey, Everett, PA and Alene Prye, Greencastle, PA.
She was preceded in death by siblings Clemma Redinger, Marshal K. “Bud” Ritchey, Edith Clark, Louise Clark, Doris Foor, and infant siblings William and Ruth Ritchey.
Mrs. King was a member of the Everett Church of God, where she was active in the Ladies Ministry.
Throughout the years she was employed at Maurices and H.P. Department Store and later working for the Everett Area School District in the High School Cafeteria until her retirement.
She enjoyed cooking, cleaning and doing things for others. She loved caring for and spending time with her grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at the Everett Church of God, 11152 Lincoln Hwy, Everett, PA 15537 with Pastor William Kisner officiating.
Friends may call at Akers Funeral Home, Inc., 299 Raystown Road, Everett, PA 15537, on Monday August 5, 2019 from 4-8 P.M. and on Tuesday from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service at the church.
Burial will be held privately at Mt. Union Cemetery.
