Ruby E.G. Calhoun

Ruby E. G. Calhoun, 98, of Snake Spring Valley, Everett, PA; passed away on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at Pennknoll Village.  She was born on November 20, 1919 in Dudley, Pennsylvania; a daughter of the late Simpson B. and Sara Edna (Bollman) Black.  On October 16, 1940 in Cumberland, Maryland; she married George Frederick Calhoun.  He preceded her in death on September 24, 2001.

She is survived by two sons James Calhoun married to Nancy (Smith), Everett, PA and Barry Calhoun married to Sally (Stonerook), New Enterprise, PA; grandchildren Craig, Michael, Michelle, Brandon and Steven; twelve great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren; siblings Galen Black married to Jane, Bedford, PA; Doris married to Dale Dilling, Hopewell, PA; Marlene Brumwell, CA and Arnold Black married to Karen, CA.

Ruby was preceded in death by siblings Mable Dilling, Alberta Foor, Donald Black, Martha Foor, Helena Perrin and Gary Black.

Ruby was a member of the Snake Spring Church of the Brethren and was very active in the Ladies Auxiliary.  She enjoyed playing Scrabble, baking cookies and was known for her talented quilting.  She won several awards at the Bedford County Fair.

Friends and Family may call at the Akers Funeral Home, Inc., 299 Raystown Road, Everett, on Friday, September 21, 2018 from 4-8 P.M. and on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service at the funeral home.

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Calhoun and Pastor David Grimes officiating.

Burial will be held privately at Ritchey Cemetery.
