Robert "Bob" L. Zimmerman

Robert "Bob" L. Zimmerman, 78, of Summit Street, Everett, PA; passed away on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at Pennknoll Village.  He was born on May 11, 1941 in Everett, PA; a son of the late Thomas R. and Helen S. (Johnson) Zimmerman.  On July 11, 1959 in the Bedford Lutheran Church he was united in marriage to Barbara A. (Price) Zimmerman.

Along with his wife he is survived by sons R. Michael Zimmerman married to Cyndy and her family; Wesley L. Zimmerman married to Joanna; grandchildren Lauren, Kara and Erica; siblings William B. Zimmerman married to Nancy, Everett, PA; Thomas V. Zimmerman married to Vivian, Everett,  PA; and Carolyn A. married to Eugene Burkett, Everett, PA.

He was preceded in death by daughter-in-law Tina Zimmerman.

Bob was a graduate of Everett Area High School Class of 1959.

Throughout his life he worked as a gas station attendant at Esso in Breezwood, later a mechanic for Caro Equipment, Inc. and then he and his brother Bill owned and operated Zimmerman's Carpet and Appliance business before becoming a partner with his father and brothers in Zimmerman’s Hardware and Supply Company Inc., Everett.  Bob worked there until his retirement in 2019.  He loved his job and being around people.

He was a member of the Everett Masonic Lodge F.&A.M. #524.  Bob enjoyed boating and camping over the years.

Friends and Family may call at the Akers Funeral Home, Inc., 299 Raystown Road, Everett on Monday, January 13, 2020 from 5-8 P.M. and on Tuesday from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service.

Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Kathy Popp officiating.

Burial will be held in the Everett Cemetery.

If friends so desire memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made in memory of Bob to the American Heart Association.
