Nicholas Edgar Steckman, our beloved father and grandfather, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, June 16, 2018. Born on January 24, 1945 to the late Edgar and Betty Steckman, he was a lifelong resident of Clearville. Graduating from Everett High School in 1963, he served as an Army paratrooper in Germany during the Vietnam War. Following the service, he relocated to Euclid, OH to work for Lincoln Electric. After returning home to Clearville, he spent the next 30 years working as an independent long distance truck driver.
He was adored by his children, Troy Steckman and Nicole (and Rain) Masciocchi, and four grandchildren, Olivia, Isabel, Corrado and Angelo. He spent the last 15 years enjoying retirement on Cherry Lane, where his biggest joys came during time with his grandchildren: playing games, sharing family dinners, frequenting Hersheypark, and boating on Lake Raystown.
He is survived by his wonderful sister, Bonnie Manges, his nephew, Charlie Steckman, his niece, Kimberley Geracioti with her husband, Greg, and his aunt, Vada Eckard. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by an infant son.
