Merle O. Bennett

Merle O. Bennett, 81, of Upper Snake Spring Road, Everett, PA; passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2019 at Rebecca’s Personal Care Home, Everett.  He was born on December 8, 1937 in Artemas, PA; a son of the late George O. and Florence Virginia (Wigfield) Bennett.  On September 24, 1960 in Cumberland, MD; he was united in marriage to Donna Marie (Wyles) Bennett.  She preceded him in death on May 31, 2014. 

He is survived by son David M. Bennett, Everett, PA; special niece Lisa Bair, Everett and other nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother Franklin J. Bennett and infant sister Evelyn Bennett.

Mr. Bennett was a member of the Koontz Church of the Brethren.

He was a graduate of Everett Area High School Class of 1957 and served in the United States Army from 1961-1963 as a SP-4.  Over the years Merle worked as a mechanic/welder in the trucking industry until his retirement.

Merle was a member of the New Enterprise Power Reunion, a lifetime member of the Artemas American Legion Post No. 13 and enjoyed working on old tractors and trucks.

Family and Friends may call at the Akers Funeral Home, 299 Raystown Road, Everett, PA on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 from 4-7 P.M. 

Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at 7:00 P.M. in the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Benner officiating.
 
Burial will be held privately at Ritchey Cemetery.
 
If friends so desire memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mr. Bennett to the Koontz Church of the Brethren.
