Mary Jane Thomas

Mary Jane Thomas, 88, of Mapleton Depot, formerly of Saxton, PA, passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2020 at her daughters’ home.  She was born on May 17, 1931 in Robertsdale, PA; a daughter of the late Camile and Pearl Thelma (McCue) Wannyn.  In 1948 in Cumberland, Maryland she was united in marriage to William David Thomas; he preceded her in death on December 26, 1971.

She is survived by children Gloria D. Edge, Mapleton Depot; Caroline L. Detwiler and companion Albert M. Jones; David W. Thomas married to Ranaee, Pomeroy, PA; Penny L. Whitson married to Harry, Collegeville, PA; sister Sylvia Moffat, Malvern, PA; step-siblings Cathy May and Anthony May both of California; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandsons.

Along with her husband and parents she was preceded in death by son Daniel B. Thomas; son-in-law David N. Edge; siblings Margaret Moffat and Sylven Wannyn.

Mrs. Thomas was a member of the Saxton V.F.W. Auxiliary, Broad Top American Legion, Downingtown Moose Lodge and the Malvern Volunteer Fire Company. She loved bingo and loved spending time with her family. She was of the Methodist Faith.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at Akers Funeral Chapel, 715 Church Street, Saxton, PA 16678 with Pastor Joshua Beben officiating.

Friends and family will be received on Friday, January 10, 2020 from 6-8 P.M. and on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service at The Chapel.

Burial will be held at Grandview Cemetery.
