Mark Allen Calhoun

Mark Allen Calhoun, of Everett, PA, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2019 at UPMC Montefiore Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on December 20, 1972 in Baltimore, MD to James and Janet Calhoun, Mark was the youngest of three sons.  He graduated from Highland View Academy in Hagerstown, MD and attended Columbia Union College and the University of Maryland before moving to Pennsylvania where he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from Penn State University.  He worked in the fields of sales and social work.

Mark loved music and playing the guitar and banjo.  He performed with his friends in the band, The Coal Mountain Ramblers.  Mark also loved rifle and bow hunting.  He had a lifelong passion for American history, particularly the Civil War, World War II and local history.  He read extensively and enjoyed discussing historical topics.

Mark was preceded in death by his father, James Calhoun.  His is survived by his mother Janet Calhoun of Everett, brother Jim (Evelyn) Calhoun of Detour, MD, brother Bryan (Sheryl) Calhoun of Harpers Ferry, WV, nieces and nephews Jennifer (Josias) De Trinidad of Brownsville, TX, Stephanie Calhoun of Wallingford, CT, Joshua (Chelsea) Calhoun of Ooltewah, TN, Allison Calhoun (fiancé Emory Dent) of Berrien Springs, MI and Travis Calhoun of Berrien Springs, MI.

Friends and Family will be received for a closed casket visitation on Monday, May 13, 2019 from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service at Akers Funeral Home, Inc., 299 Raystown Road, Everett, PA 15537.

Funeral Service will be held on Monday, May 13, 2019 at 12:00 Noon  in the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home with Pastor Robert Snyder officiating.

Burial will be held at Mt. Union Cemetery, Mench.
