S. Mae (Brennan) Motter

S. Mae (Brennan) Motter, 88, of Saxton, PA; passed away on Thursday, July 27, 2017 at The Village at Morrisons Cove, Martinsburg, PA.  She was born February 5, 1929 in Carbon Township, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania; a daughter of the late Michael and Bessie (Carberry) Brennan.  She was married to Russel E. Motter on April 22, 1950 at the First Church of God, Saxton by the Rev. Ammon Siple.  He preceded her in death on November 15, 2007. 

She is survived by children Forrest and Keith Motter, Little Valley; Tracy Barton married to Jim, Roaring Spring and Bess Motter, Georgia; two granddaughters Amy Motter, Saxton and Felicia Barton, Roaring Spring; two great grandchildren Stephen Carroll and Kallie Motter of Saxton; great great grandson Grayson Carroll; and niece Faith Wright and nephew Don Buckley.

She was preceded in death by daughter Brenda Motter on July 23, 2016.

Mae was the last surviving member of her immediate family being preceded in death by the following siblings Michael, John, Grace and Jane.

She was a graduate of Saxton Liberty High School Class of 1946 and served as secretary of the Saxton Alumni Association for twenty-two years.  Mae was a member of the Broad Top Church of Christ and the Saxton First Church of God.

Mae was a member of the Public School Employees Retirement System, past membership in the Little Valley Homemakers and Terrace Mountain Farm Society.  When her children were young, she formed the Little Valley 4-H Club.

During her lifetime, Mae worked for the state government in Harrisburg, the federal government in Wichita Falls, TX, the Tussey Mountain School District and the Saxton Community Library form which she retired in 2009 with eighteen years of service.  Her summer employment included the Dauphin Deposit Bank, Harrisburg; Trough Creek State Park and the Lake Raystown Resort.

Mae enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting, hand crafts, gardening and woodworking.  She also found caregiving very rewarding.

Friends and Family will be received on Monday, July 31, 2017 at the Akers Funeral Chapel, 715 Church Street, Saxton from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service.

Funeral Service will be held on Monday, July 31, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. in the Akers Funeral Chapel with Lay Speaker James Snyder and Pastor James Lynn officiating.

 

Burial will be held in Grandview Cemetery, Saxton, PA.

 

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Mrs. Motter to the Saxton Community Library, 315 Front Street, P.O. Box 34, Saxton, PA 16678 or the Broad Top Church of Christ.
