John Robert Clapper, 64, of 305 Chestnut Street, New Enterprise, PA; passed away on Monday, March 25, 2019 at UPMC Altoona Hospital. He was born on June 1, 1954 in Roaring Spring, Pennsylvania; a son of the late Jesse H. and Mary Elizabeth (Hoover) Clapper. On October 9, 1993 in Koontz Church of the Brethren he was united in marriage to Susan (Hobernicht) Clapper.
Along with his wife he is survived by siblings Lois married to Walter Wertz; Herbert Clapper; Melanie Clapper and John; James Clapper; sister-in-law Robin Clapper and numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews and his furry companion “King Tut”.
He was preceded in death by a brother Charles Clapper and sister-in-law Karen Clapper.
John grew up attending the Koontz Church of the Brethren. He was a graduate of Northern Bedford County High School Class of 1972.
He enjoyed attending the Southern Cove Power Reunion, restoring antique tractors and collecting toy tractors.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 29, 2019 at the Akers Funeral Home, Inc., 299 Raystown Road, Everett, PA from 5-8 P.M. and on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service.
Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home with Pastor Paul Snyder officiating.
Burial will be held privately at Dry Hill Cemetery.
