Jerry Merritts Obituary

Jerry W. “Pap” Merritts, 64, of Merriwinds Road, Clearville, PA; passed away on May 12, 2019 at his home with his loving family by his side.  He was born on July 28, 1954 in Wilmington, North Carolina, a son of the late Floyd L. and Ellen A. (Hinkle) Merritts.  On July 28, 1975 he was united in marriage with Deborah M. (Price) Merritts in Purcell, PA.

Along with his wife he is survived by children Chad Clark married to Shonda (Markle), Breezewood, PA, Jamie married to Mike Lankey, Bedford, PA, sisters Terry Peterson, Osterburg, PA, Pam Miller, Everett, PA, grandchildren Shayna Clark, Dylan Clark married to Sadie (Jerry’s caregiver), Hunter Lankey, Brooke Lankey; brother and sister in laws Gary Collins, Randy Price married to Nancy, Kenny Price and fiancé Rhea Corle, Sheryl Price, Dennis Price married to Julie, Kathy Jo Price, Brian Price, Todd Price married to Yvonne; mother in law Norma Price.

Jerry was preceded in death by sister Connie Collins, granddaughter Shayla Clark, father in law Kenneth Price, and nephew Brett Price.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1972-1979 and later in the National Guard from 1979-2001.

Jerry worked at Letterkenny U.S. Army Depot for thirty-six years, retiring on December 31, 2018.

He enjoyed being with family and friends at Marteen’s Restaurant. He also liked teaching the grandchildren and sharing the love of hunting and fishing.  Most important he enjoyed taking the love of his life on rides in their shiny Corvette.  He was an avid reader and enjoyed playing guitar.

Friends and Family will be received on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 from 4-8 P.M. and Thursday at 10 A.M. until the hour of service at Akers Funeral Home, Inc., 299 Raystown Road, Everett, PA 15537.

Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, May 16, 2019 at 11:00 in the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home with Pastor Ronald Hott officiating.

Burial will be held at Rock Hill Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the Everett Area Honor Guard.
