James Frederick Weaver, Jr., 82, of 240 Spencer Street, Saxton, PA; passed away on Monday, December 24, 2018 at UPMC Altoona Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born on September 13, 1936 in Cherrytown, PA; a son of the late James F. Weaver, Sr. and Elizabeth A. (McElwee) Weaver. On November 18, 1960 in Winchester, Virginia; he married Carole R. (Clark) Weaver.
Along with his wife he is survived by two children James Frederick Weaver III married to Crystal (Diehl), Saxton, PA and Elizabeth Anne “Betsy” Weaver and fiancé Scott Angelo, Saxton, PA and three grandchildren James Frederick Weaver IV and fiancé ReGine Agaoa; Kristen married to Josh Swope and Erika Elizabeth Fleck; three great grandchildren Jeremiah Swope, Wyatt Swope and James Frederick Weaver V; and a sister Marcella Maley, Pinehurst, NC.
Mr. Weaver was a graduate of Saxton Liberty High School Class of 1955, he served in the United States Army as a sergeant of the Tank Battalion/69th armored division from 1956-1959.
He formerly attended Saxton First Church of God. He was a life member of the Saxton Sportsmans Club and a member of the Portage Lodge F.&A.M. No. 220.
Mr. Weaver worked as union mason for several years until becoming a self-employed concrete contractor owning Fred Weaver Concrete from 1976 until his retirement in 2002.
Fred enjoyed trapping, hunting, working in his wood shop and listening to his record collection. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A private graveside service will be held at the Grandview Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Broad Top Area Honor Guard.
