Smith High School. Fred held several jobs both in Altoona and in his home area, but he ultimately settled on working for Conrail as a machinist and inspector. Most of his work with Conrail was at the Juniata Shops in Altoona, where he worked until his retirement in 1986 after thirty-seven years of service.

Throughout his life, Fred enjoyed traveling, especially with his family, building furniture, telling of local history and about his roots, and hearing others share their history.  He was a railroad enthusiast, lover of bluegrass music, and the definition of a “people person”. Fred was a member of the Sherman’s Valley Brethren in Christ Church. His dear wife Donna and his family will miss him greatly.
