Frederick J. Miller, 91, of Springhouse Estates, Everett formerly of Lewisburg; passed away on Thursday, February 21, 2019. He was born on December 4, 1927 in Cumberland, Maryland; a son of the late John Philip and Nora (Beck) Miller. On September 4, 1948 he was united in marriage to Virginia (Beydler) Miller. She preceded him in death on November 2, 2000. He is survived by the following family: son Wayne F. Miller married to Cathy (Sollenberger), Clearville; daughter Marlene married to David Betts, Bedford; grandchildren Thomas Rike married to Liana (Westmoreland), James Rike married to Candace (Eastwood), Laura (Miller) married to Jeremy Vent, Mark Miller married to Anne (Barry), Joseph Betts married to Cindy (Malloy); great grandchildren Zachary Rike, Caleb Rike, Katie Rike, Elora Rike, Leah Vent, Nathan Vent, Aurelia Miller, Clyde "Max" Miller, Audrey Lowey and Evanne Lowey; a sister Pearl (Miller) Fisher; nieces and nephews Wilda Miller, Arlene Higgins, Alberta Zembower, Audrey Wills, Patricia Often, Merrill Miller, Karen Durrett, James Gilbert Wakeman, Barbara Beydler, Jerry Gilbert Beydler, Billie (Beydler) Racy; and a special friend Isabelle Byrd, Montandon, PA.
He was preceded in death by brother Robert E. Miller; half brother Walter "Buck" Miller and half sister Mabel (Miller) Reynolds.
Fred was a graduate of Fort Hill, Cumberland, MD, Class of 1945. He served in the United States Merchant Marines from 1945-1947.
Throughout the years he spent his career as a truck driver driving as an owner/operator for nine years, later at Interstate Motor Freight, Trans-Con and lastly driving school bus for the Lewisburg School System until his retirement in 2011.
He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 0841, Montandon, PA and Merchant Marines Veterans Association.
Friends and Family may call at the Akers Funeral Home, Inc, 299 Raystown Road, Everett on Friday, March 1, 2019 from 6-8 P.M. and on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service at the funeral home.
Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home with Rev. Robert R. Robertson officiating.
Burial will be held privately at Sunset View Memorial Gardens, Woodstock, VA.
