Edward C. Coy, Sr.

July 22, 1926 ~ July 17, 2017 (age 90) 90 Years Old


Edward C. Coy, Sr., 90, of Spencer Street, Saxton, PA; passed away on Monday, July 17, 2017 at UPMC Altoona Hospital, Altoona.  He was born on July 22, 1926 in Saxton, Pennsylvania; a son of the late Jesse W. and Alda G. (Dick) Coy.  On October 28, 1946 in Huntingdon, PA; he married Emma P. (Miller) Coy.  He is survived by his wife of seventy years and children Edward C. Coy Jr. married to Jane E. (Drenning), Wood, PA; Carolyn M. Pearson married to Carl, Alexandria, PA; Lisa A. Mathews married to Jeffrey, Waynesburg, PA; sister Shelby Jean Stevenson, nine grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by siblings: Howard, Martin, Mary, Charles, Eva, Betty, Cora, Jesse and James.

Edward was a member of the Saxton First Church of God where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and church council.  He was also a member of the Saxton V.F.W. as well as the American Legion.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, taking bus trips and attending family reunions.

Ed attended Robertsdale High School until time of service enlistment in the United States Army, where he served in WWII.  He later went on to work at Letterkenny Army Depot for thirty-one and a half years, retiring in 1981.

Family and Friends may call at the Saxton First Church of God on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service at the church.

Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at 12:00 P.M. at the Saxton First Church of God, 1018 6th St, Saxton, PA 16678 with Pastor Steve Oberman officiating.

Burial will be held at Fockler Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the Broad Top Area Honor Guard.
