Edna J. Swartzwelder

Edna J. Swartzwelder, 92, of North Breezewood Road, Breezewood, PA; passed away on Monday, May 6, 2019.  She was born on December 29, 1926 in Breezewood, PA; a daughter of the late Harry O. Swartzwelder Sr. and Elsie V. (Lane) Swartzwelder.  

She is survived by her daughter Connie L. married to Randy Baughman, Everett, PA; a niece raised like a daughter Arlene married to Richard Duppstadt, Stoystown, PA; siblings Ruth wife of the late Bun Clark, Everett, PA; Ada wife of the late Don Clark, Breezewood, PA; Harry Swartzwelder Jr. married to Nancy, Everett, PA; Robert Swartzwelder married to Linda, Breezewood, PA; and Ora married to Gary Foor, Everett; two grandchildren Amy married to Tim Calhoun, Nashville, TN; Aaron Baughman, Everett, PA; two adopted grandchildren Angie married to Rob Ditzler and Jeff Duppstadt; four great grandsons Noah and Owen Baughman and Christian and Ethan Calhoun; two adopted great grandchildren Brian and Brad Ditzler.

She was preceded in death by siblings Vera Nave, Cora Colledge, Mary Rzeppa, Grace Swartzwelder and Blair Swartzwelder.  

Edna was a member of the Mt. Zion Lutheran Church and attended the Breezewood United Methodist Church.

She was active in the Breezewood Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxilliary and the Breezewood Senior Citizens.  Edna enjoyed helping others, organizing family meals and welcoming all to the family homestead.  She was an avid baker and quilter.

Edna was employed at Lions Manufacturing for thirty-two years until its closing later working at Gateway and JLG Industries until retirement.

Friends and Family may call at the Akers Funeral Home, Inc., on Friday, May 10, 2019 from 4-8 P.M. and on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service at the funeral home.

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home with Pastor Patrick Traxler officiating.
