Delma L. (Elbin) Zirkle

Delma L. (Elbin) Zirkle, age 85, of Little Orleans, MD passed away peacefully on Friday, August 9, 2019 at WHMS Hospital, Cumberland, MD. Born December 21, 1933 in Artemas, PA, the first child of thirteen to the late W. Kelly and Mabel R. (Clingerman) Elbin. She was united in marriage with William Wayde Zirkle in 1951, until he passed on March 31, 1982.  

She is survived by children Leon Zirkle, Little Orleans, MD; Zane Zirkle married to Carole, Warfordsburg, PA; Diana Smith, Artemas, PA; Nanette Porter, Lancaster, PA; Natalie Hartley and boyfriend Lindsy Clingerman, Artemas, PA; step-son Billy Zirkle; sixteen grandchildren; ten great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; siblings LeAnna married to Donald Potts, Artemas, PA; Floyd Elbin married to Connie, Artemas, PA; Leon Elbin married to Janet, Artemas, PA; sister-in-laws Faye Elbin and Joan Elbin.

Delma was preceded in death by her parents; husband; an infant son Carl; Elbin siblings Eugene, John, Warren, Dale, Harold, Ralph, Kenneth, Alverta Papa and LaDonna Dennison; and son-in-law Larry Smith.

Delma was a graduate of Everett Area High School Class of 1951. She was a member of the Fairview Christian Church. She worked for Sheetz in Hancock, MD for twenty years, and was fondly known by many as “Grandma Sheetz.” Delma was a fantastic cook and you never left her home hungry. She loved and took care of her friends and family,

Visitation is on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 from 6-8 P.M. at the Akers Funeral Home, 299 Raystown Rd, Everett, PA 15537 and on Wednesday at Fairview Christian Church, 1747 Crooked Run Rd, Artemas, PA 17211from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service. The funeral service will begin Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. with Pastors Milton Morris and Jonas Smith officiating. A light lunch will be served in the church dining hall after burial in the Fairview Cemetery.
