D. Marie Mountain Obituary

D. Marie Mountain, 89, of Bedford, PA; passed away on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at home.  She was born on August 20, 1929 in Yellow Creek, PA; a daughter of the late Robert and Fannie P. (Dickerson) Cottle.  On November 26, 1947 in McKeesport, PA; she was united in marriage to W. Eugene Mountain.  He preceded her in death on June 13, 2014.

She is survived by daughter Elaine wife of Jim Housel; granddaughter: Stacy wife of Chad Bollman; great granddaughters: Brooke and Claire all of Bedford; special nieces Nancy Smith, Karen Greise, Beverly Swindell and Anna Louise Swindell; three special friends Gloria, Corie, Sue; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by siblings Ralph Cottle, Jess Cottle, Ross Cottle, Harry Cottle, Chester Cottle, Florence Clark, Margaret Swindell and Louise Chaney.

Marie was a graduate of Robert P. Smith High School.

She was a member of the Church of Brethren denomination.  She enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, antiquing with her husband and loved to play pinochle.  Marie formerly served as a past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star.

Marie worked various places throughout her life starting at Lions Manufacturing in Everett, Travelers Rest, Ed’s Steakhouse, J.S. Raub Shoes, Dr. Hall's office and later working at Deepwood Gallery and Elaine’s Wearable Art alongside her daughter.   Throughout the years she did the bookkeeping for her husband’s trucking business and other various businesses.  She owned and operated Mountain Antiques until her retirement.

A special thank you to Bedford County Home Nursing Hospice nurses and aids.

A Memorial Service will be held privately with family.  Pastor Beverly Swindell will be officiating.  Burial will be held at Everett Cemetery.
