Claudia Miller Obituary

Claudia Pearl (Smith) Miller, 87, of Raystown Road, Hopewell, PA; passed away peacefully at home with her children by her side.  She was born on March 18, 1932 in Hopewell, Pennsylvania; daughter of the late Harrison “Cloyd” and Mary “Ruth” (Simon) Smith.  On May 25, 1948 in Bedford, Pennsylvania; she married Charles E. “Buddy” Miller, he preceded her in death July 22, 2015.

She leaves behind her ten children, Charles “Butch” Miller, Everett, PA;

Cindy Mediate, Irwin, PA; Susan married to Harman Mallow, Everett, PA; Gary married to Gena (Foor) Miller, Everett, PA; Vickie “Pink” Nettles, Hopewell, PA; Greg Miller married to Lori (Thomas), Six Mile Run, PA; Deborah married to George Hallo, Vanderbilt, PA; Kate Miller (Wayne Steckman), Everett, PA; JoEllen Oswalt, Poke, OH; and Tam Miller and friend Carol Burnett, Hopewell, PA; twenty grandchildren; thirty-seven great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren; a brother E. Dale Smith, Everett, PA and lots of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a son Denny; three infant children; son-in-law Joseph Mediate along with these siblings Forrest L. Smith, Anna L. Grubb, Emmons E. Smith, Isabelle M. Hofacker-Pepple, Donald E. “Gene” Smith and Elmer R. Smith.

Throughout the years she worked as a cook and waitress at Howard Johnson's, Robert P. Smith School in Yellow Creek and Kountry Kettle Restaurant for twenty-seven years.

She was a very active lady that enjoyed caring for her home and family.  She also enjoyed going shopping for clothes with her daughter Kate, getting her hair done every week then going to Kelly’s Restaurant or Hoss’s for lunch.

She spent a lot of time on the back porch feeding her chipmunks and getting to pet it.

She loved watching game shows Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, Prices Right, and rooting for her sports teams, the Pirates, Pens, Penn State and the Cowboys.

She was famous for her cooking and baking.

She will be missed by her family.  The family will be having a get together at a later date.
