Alma P. Carnell, 89, of Saxton; passed away on Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at The Village at Morrison’s Cove. She was born on July 18, 1930 in Saxton, PA; a daughter of the late Clayton Carnell and Virginia P. (Carberry) Carnell. Alma was the last member of her immediate family.
She is survived by Ronald Carnell and family; John Smith and family; Rebecca Backer and family; Thomas Smith and family; Charlene Watkins and family; Debbie Carberry and family; Pat Carberry; Michael Stranger and family; George Stranger and family; Dennis Stranger and family and Kathy Flinchbaugh and family.
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by a sister Edna Ruth Carnell and Karen and Connie who were raised in the family home.
Alma was a graduate of Saxton-Liberty High School Class of 1949 where she was part of the band flag guard. Upon graduation she worked as a switch board operator from 1951 until the company moved to Huntingdon in 1956. She then went on to work for Savadow’s Clothing as a sales associate for forty-three years until her retirement in 1998.
Ms. Carnell attended Living Hope Grace Brethren Church.
Friends and family will be received on Friday, August 2, 2019 from 1:00 P.M. until the hour of service at the chapel.
Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 2, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. at the Akers Funeral Chapel, 715 Church Street, Saxton, PA 16678 with Pastor Bill Hall officiating.
Burial will be held privately at Grandview Cemetery.
