Wayne H.W. “Skip” Thomas, Sr., 78, of Clearville, PA; passed away on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at home.  He was born on April 12, 1939 in Frederick, MD; a son of the late Horace and Marguerite (Robertson) Thomas and step-father Robert “Doc” Robertson.  On March 6, 1965 in Frederick, MD; he was united in marriage to Marjorie A. (Way) Thomas.  She preceded him in death on June 22, 2008.  He is survived by son Wayne H.W. Thomas, Jr. and friend Bridget Macon, Everett, PA; daughter Cassandra married to Mike Eshelman, Everett, PA; brother Scott Thomas married to Christine, Hong Kong; five grandchildren Zoe, Ivey and Eve Thomas and Derek and Cody Eshelman; one great grandchild Tripp Lee Lowery.  After the passing of his wife Skip met a great friend and companion Kathy Sopp of Parkton, MD.

He was a 1957 graduate of Frederick High.  After graduation Skip joined the United States Air Force and proudly served his country for twenty-two years, retiring as a Master Sergeant in 1979.  During his career he served in the Vietnam War and was a NCOA.  After retirement he went to work for the United States Tower Service and traveled all over the world installing communication towers and was one of four people in the world who knew how to erect one certain kind of tower.  Over the years he worked at the Pentagon, NASA’s space center in Cape Canaveral and was even on Air Force One.  He was a great man of many accomplishments.

Skip was always there for family and friends to lend a helping hand and will be missed by all who knew him.  He was a member of Clearville united Methodist Church and Doubs Methodist Church, Doubs, MD; where he still occasionally attended. 

Wayne was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Frederick, MD; and a life member of the VFW and Everett American Legion Post No. 08.

Skip loved spending time with his family and friends, traveling, fishing and tinkering with anything he could get his hands on.  He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home with Pastor Debi Decker officiating.

Military honors will be conducted by the Everett Area Honor Guard.

Friends and Family may call on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at the Akers Funeral Home, 299 Raystown Road, Everett, PA 15537 from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service at the funeral home.
