T. Jean Hall, 88, of Price Hill Road, Hopewell, Pennsylvania; went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at UPMC Bedford Memorial Hospital. She was born on May 26, 1929 in Broad Top City, Pennsylvania; a daughter of the late Pearl (Neville) Putt and step father Ralph “Inky” Putt; she was raised in the home of her late grandparents Mom and Pop Neville (John and Catherine Neville). On March 20, 1948 in the Raven Run Church of the Brethren; she was united in marriage to LeRoy “Farmer” Hall. He preceded her in death on February 4, 2014.
She is survived by children Patsy married to Gary Sams, Everett, PA; Gary Hall married to Jeanne (Skipper), Hopewell, PA; Linda Weitzel, New Enterprise, PA and Carolyn married to Bob Smith, Hopewell, PA; grandchildren Ryan Hall married to Megan, Joshua Hall married to Bridget, Travis Smith married to Elizabeth, Justin Smith married to Marcy, Rebecca Lazor married to Mike, Benjamin Weitzel married to Samantha, Whitney Sams, Courtney married to Josh Baker, Travis Sams married to Ezzy, Amy Donaldson married to Marc; great-grandchildren Michael and Andrew Lazor, Matthew, MaKayla and Mariah Hall, Benjamin and Sophia Weitzel, Avery and Colton Smith, Jack and Wyatt Smith and Bailee Baker, Brady Donaldson, Sophia and Arianna Sams; siblings John Putt, Alan Putt, Catherine Betts, Lola Martin and Nancy Wyles; and good friends Dave and Hannah Kepple.
As a teenager at the age of 14 she rode a bus to Letterkenny Army Depot to work and later rode the train from Broad Top to Huntingdon to work at J.C. Blair Hospital. By her late teens she began working at Cogan’s Diner where she met her husband of sixty-five years. After marriage Jean and her husband farmed until 1976 and she occasionally worked at Morrison's store when needed. She then worked at Quality Manufacturing until retirement. She believed in hard work, beginning at an early age.
Mrs. Hall was a member of St Paul’s Church of Yellow Creek, where she enjoyed Bible study. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; they would always brighten her day. She enjoyed doing word searches, reading her Bible and growing orchids.
Family and friends may call at the St. Paul’s Church of Yellow Creek, St. Paul’s Church Road, Hopewell, PA on Friday, April 6, 2018 from 4-8 P.M. and on Saturday, April 7, 2018 from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service at the church.
Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Paul’s Church of Yellow Creek with Pastor Gary Sams and Pastor Chester Horton officiating.
Burial will be held privately at Yellow Creek Reformed Cemetery.
