S. June (Isett) Gosnell

S. June Gosnell, 96, of James Creek, PA; passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at Westminster Woods, Huntingdon, Pennsylvania.  She was born on July 26, 1920 in Hesston, Pennsylvania; a daughter of the late J. Guy and Margaret (Rice) Isett.  On August 16, 1943 in the former Lutheran Church Parsonage, Saxton; she married Robert W. Gosnell.  He preceded her in death on July 30, 2009.  She is survived by five daughters:  Edwina widow of Dick Keifman, Windber; Sharon married to John Hoover, Saxton; Janine married to Dick McClure, Saxton; Amber married to Ron Anders, Alexandria; Tina married to Bryan Benson, Huntingdon; eleven grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild arriving in April; and sister-in-law: Marie McEwen and numerous nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by fifteen siblings.

June was a lifetime member at St. Matthews Lutheran Church, Marklesburg, PA.

She was a graduate of Huntingdon High School.  Over the years June was a homemaker caring for her five children.  She worked for a brief time at Boyers Ice Cream Parlor in Aitch, PA; before meeting her husband of sixty six years while working there. 

Mrs. Gosnell enjoyed reading, traveling, knitting, doing puzzle books and her trips to the beach.  She was most delighted when getting to spend time with grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Friends and Family may call at the Akers Funeral Chapel, 715 Church Street, Saxton on Friday, February 10, 2017 from 6-8 P.M. and on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service at the chapel. 

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at the Akers Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jennifer Soltis officiating.   Burial will be held at Old Stone Church Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in memory of June to the Marklesburg Volunteer Fire Company or the St. Matthews Lutheran Church.
