Ruth D. Smith, 84, of Everett, Pennsylvania; passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh. She was born on September 11, 1933, in Six Mile Run, Pennsylvania; a daughter of the late Howard A. and Elsie G. (Noel) Defibaugh. On December 23, 1952 in Cumberland, MD she was united in marriage to Cleon M. Smith; he preceded her in death on March 21, 2010. She is survived by son Terry L. Smith married to Jolanta, Colorado Springs, Colorado; siblings Dorothy Long married to Robert, Wells Tannery, PA, Marian Everetts married to Mack, Robertsdale, PA and Clara Hastings, Six Mile Run, PA; one step-grandchild and two great-grandchildren.
Along with her husband and parents she is preceded in death by siblings Verna Goodyear, Dorothy Long and Robert Defibaugh and a step granddaughter Rebecca.
Ruth was a graduate of Saxton-Liberty High School Class of 1951. She and her husband owned and operated Smith-Exxon Station in Tatesville for seventeen years and worked for sixteen years as a telephone operator for United.
Mrs. Smith was a member of Bethel Church of the Brethren and enjoyed reading, working puzzles, fishing and hunting.
Friends and Family may call at the Akers Funeral Home Inc., 299 Raystown Road, Everett, PA on Friday, February 23, 2018 from 4-6 P.M. and on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service.
Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home with Pastor H. Lee Ritchey officiating.
Burial will be held at Bethel Cemetery.
