Rodney L. Mearkle

Rodney L. Mearkle, 68, of Clearville, PA: passed away on Monday, September 4, 2017 at home.  He was born on March 21, 1949 in Everett, Pennsylvania; a son of the late Ray W. and Helen R. (Snyder) Mearkle.  On January 14, 1999 in Conway, SC; he was united in marriage to Madolyn S. (Mellott) Mearkle.

Along with his wife he is survived by his son Brian C. Mearkle married to Jamie, Newville, PA; stepchildren Troy Steckman and Nicole married to Rain Masciocchi; a sister Mary S. married to Mitch Hartman, Bedford, PA; two grandchildren and four step grandchildren.

Rodney served in the United States Navy serving from 1969-1970 as an E-4 during the Vietnam War.  After returning home from his service to his country, he was employed for the FBI in the Fingerprint Identification Division in D.C.  He later went on to work for the United States Postal Service as a rural postal carrier in Clearville area for thirty years until his retirement in 2004.

Rodney was a member of the Everett American Legion Post No. 08 and the Breezewood V.F.W. Post No. 8333.

Friends and Family may call at the Akers Funeral Home, Inc., 299 Raystown Road, Everett on Thursday, September 7, 2017 from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service at the funeral home.

Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home with Pastor Mary Hartman officiating.

Burial will be held Clearville Union Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the Everett Area Honor Guard.
