Ned Allen Sparks

Ned A. Sparks (Sparky), 69, of Lihue, Hawaii; passed away on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at UPMC Altoona Hospital.  He was born on July 28, 1947 in Everett, Pennsylvania; a son of Verna Mae (Ault) Sparks of Bedford, PA and the late Montford J. Sparks.

He is survived by siblings Rose Anne Shoemaker, Hawaii; Denny Sparks, Lancaster, PA; Susie married to Leo Kamermeier, Alaska; Sandy married to Joe King, Bedford, PA; Sherron married to Michael Hain, State College, PA and Lynetta married to Robert Kauffman, Clearville, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Ned was a graduate of Thaddeus Stevens Trade School and later went on to receive his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from the University of Anchorage and Doctorate in Theology from the Universal Life Church. He served in the U.S. Army. Ned was employed as a Professor at the University of Anchorage.

Ned was living in Kauai, Hawaii and visiting his mother for her 95th birthday at the time of his passing

Family and Friends will be received on Saturday, May 20, 2017 from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service at the Akers Funeral Home, Inc., 299 Raystown Road, Everett, PA 15537.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home with Reverend Robert Smith and Reverend Robert Robertson officiating.
