Nancy A. Smith, 73, of Everett, Pennsylvania; passed away on Monday, May 22, 2017 at Pennknoll Village. She was born on October 22, 1943 in Roaring Spring, Pennsylvania; a daughter of the late Clyde Emerson and Anna Mae (Kifer) Helsel. On June 26, 1960 in the Grace Brethren Church, Martinsburg, PA by the Rev. Richard E. Grant; she was united in marriage to James Merle Smith. He preceded her in death on December 2, 2007.
She is survived by children Pamela married to William G. McKnight, Everett, PA; Robin married to Charles W. Clapper, New Enterprise, PA; Ruth married to James E. Johnson, Jr., Kingstree, SC; Barbara Smith, Everett, PA and Christine married to Steven McClure, Conway, SC; grandchildren William J. McKnight; Nancy married to Nathan Fox; Steve Hanks; Darrick Hanks; Elizabeth Clapper; Jennifer married to Kenton Clouse; Michelle married to Joshua Paugh; Keith Clapper; James Johnson married to Brittani (Hanson); Rebekah married to Jacob Sanders and Abigail Johnson; great grandchildren Nicole E. McIntosh and Abigale R. McKnight; Noah and Natalie Fox; Zachary, Rachel and Justine Clouse; Corran and Leah Johnson; great great grandchildren Liam David McIntosh; siblings Irene Brown, Joeanne Weyandt, Kay Merritts, Norma Weidlich and Donna Shoenfelt.
She was preceded in death by a brother Clyde Helsel, Jr.; infant sister Sherry Helsel; grandson Kevin Clapper and great grandson Adison Matthew Clapper.
They operated a dairy farm for years before pursuing their passion for horses and interacting with the public by operating the Smith Ranch horse and Carriage service. She enjoyed cooking for family gatherings.
She was a loving mother and grandmother and had a great love for the Lord.
Family and Friends may call at the Akers Funeral Home, Inc., 299 Raystown Road, Everett on
Thursday, May 25, 2017 from 4-8 P.M. and on Friday from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of services at the church.
Funeral Service will be held on Friday, May 26, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at the Bethel Church of the Brethren with Pastor Richard B. Fluke II officiating.
Burial will be held at Bethel Cemetery.
