Max L. Wallace

November 23, 1927 ~ May 22, 2017 (age 89) 89 Years Old


Max L. Wallace, 89, of Victoria Avenue, Everett, Pennsylvania; passed away on Monday, May 22, 2017 at his home.  He was born on November 23, 1927 in Clearville, Pennsylvania; a son of the late John A. and Lulu M. (Akers) Wallace.  On June 8, 1952 in the Everett Grace Brethren Church, he married Mary (Bucher) Wallace.

Along with his wife of sixty four years, he is survived by children Alice Ann Wallace, Bedford, PA; David Wayne Wallace married to Charlotte (Gearhart), Everett, PA and Margaret F. married to Gregory Yova, Chula Vista, CA; five grandchildren Krista Balke, Maria Petty, Kyle Petty, Kelly Wallace and Jessica Wallace; four great grandchildren Josiah Balke, Jael Balke, Isaac Balke and Everett Petty; sisters-in-law Marilyn (Mellott) Wallace, Clearville, PA and Ellie Bucher, Santa Ana, CA.

He was preceded in death by a brother Webster Wallace, infant brother and sister and two cousins that were raised in the home like brothers Wade M. Hanks and Yale C. Hanks.

Max was a 1944 graduate of Everett Area High School. After graduation he worked as a owner/operator truck driver for many years until his retirement in 1981. Upon retirement he worked as a bus contractor for thirteen years for the Everett Area School District.  

He attended the Community Grace Brethren Church.  As a young adult, Max was very active in the Y.T.C. (Youth Temperance Council) where he served as the state treasurer.  Along with close friend Gerald Miller of Everett he spent several years clearing and restoring over forty rural cemeteries in Bedford County.  He was an early fan of NASCAR and enjoyed motorcycling and hunting in his early years.

Friends and Family may call at the Akers Funeral Home, Inc. 299 Raystown Road, Everett on Friday, May 26, 2017 from 4-7 P.M. and on Saturday from 1:00 P.M. until the hour of service at the funeral home.

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home Inc. with Pastor Jeff Peeler and Pastor Lee Seese officiating.

Burial will be held immediately following the service at the Everett Cemetery, Everett, PA.
