Mary E. (Mellott) Dodson

Mary E. Dodson, 87, of Sandy Run Road, Hopewell, PA; passed away on Sunday, June 11, 2017 at home surrounded by family.  She was born on August 26, 1929 in Hopewell, Pennsylvania; a daughter of the late Clarence and Alda (Flory) Mellott.  On January 11, 1947 in Cumberland, MD; she was united in marriage to her husband Clair Dodson.  He preceded her in death on May 20, 2016.

She is survived by children Gail Steele, Saxton; Lynn married to Steve Moore, Hopewell, PA and Dan Dodson, Hopewell, PA; sister Judy Cogan and sisters-in-law Delores Wright and Elaine Dodson; grandchildren Dee Ann, Dustin, Lacy, Jeremy, Joshua, Bethanni and Bradley; nine great grandchildren Jade, Shilah, Keegen, Ethan, Eli, Xander, Nevaeh, Harmony and Heidi and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by daughter Patty Dodson; and brother Sonny Mellott and sister Audrey Edmunson.

Mrs. Dodson was a member of Sherman's Valley Brethren In Christ Church.

She enjoyed having family and friends at her home for meals and fellowship.  Their home in Sherman’s Valley was open to all.

Mary and Clair enjoyed attending Blue Grass Festivals and she was caretaker for her family, was always there to talk and prepare a meal.

Friends and Family will be received on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at Akers Funeral Chapel, 715 Church Street, Saxton, PA from 6-8 P.M. and on Thursday from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service at the church.

Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at Sherman's Valley Brethren In Christ Church with Pastors Rick Riley and Marlin Ressler officiating.

Burial will be held in Sherman's Valley Cemetery.

If friends so desire in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mrs. Dodson to the Sherman's Valley BIC Church, 4489 Raystown Road, Hopewell, PA 16650.
