Loren A. Woy

September 25, 1931 ~ November 30, 2017 (age 86) 86 Years Old


Loren A. Woy, 86, of Woy Bridge Road, Everett, PA; passed away on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family.  He was born on September 25, 1931; a son of the late Arthur E. and Mary G. (Bishop) Woy.  On March 25, 1955 in the Everett United Methodist Church, he was united in marriage to Joan C. (Hebner) Woy.  Along with his wife of sixty-two years he is survived by children Barry Woy married to April (Brallier), Everett, PA; Brian Woy, and significant other Michelle Diehl, Everett, PA; Beth Woy married to George Shawl, Everett, PA and Brandi Woy married to Andy Robertson; Everett, PA; a brother Victor Woy married to Shelvy; nine grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law: Deane and Judy Woy.

Loren was born and raised on a farm.  He was a graduate of Everett High School Class of 1949.  He established Lo-Jo Farms in 1956, with his wife Joan.  The farm started with fifty-seven cows as a Guernsey Dairy Herd, but they later changed to a Holstein Dairy Herd and his legacy continues as his two sons, Barry and Brian, still run the farm today, milking around four hundred dairy cows. 

Over the years he also had an adopted work family, The Naves, his right hand man, Lee and his wife Pat, still at his side after fifty plus years of employment.

Mr. Woy served on numerous dairy committees, having served as President of the Farmer’s Association for years.  He was named Bedford County Farmer of the Year in 1961 as well as third ranked Outstanding Young Farmer in PA in 1962.  Loren was also a recipient of the Dairy Herd Improvement Award for greatest improvement in 1961.

Mr. Woy was a member of the Everett Masonic Lodge F.&A.M. No.524. for over fifty years and a member of the Breezewood United Methodist Church.

He was always helping others, especially if they were starting out in business or just needed some extra support.  He could talk to anyone and make friends wherever he went. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, December 4, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at the First Christian Church, 57 Providence Street, Everett, PA 15537 with Rev. Robert R. Robertson officiating.

Friends and Family will be received on Monday, December 4, 2017 at the First Christian Church from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service at the Church.
