Irene Gladys (Millin) Sands

Irene Gladys Sands, 71, of White Deer Drive, Harrisonville, PA; passed away on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at her home.  She was born on May 11, 1946 in Everett, PA; a daughter of the late Guy M. Millin and Marie B. (Ritchey) Clouse.

She is survived by son Robert M. Sands III married to Sue, Ft. Washington, PA; grandchildren Katie and Matthew Sands; and a sister Cleo Dodson, Everett, PA.

Gladys was preceded in death by a sister Kathryn Millin.

She was a graduate of Everett Area High School Class of 1964 and Altoona Beauty School receiving her degree in cosmetology.  Gladys went on to own and operate her own salon for several years.

Ms. Sands was a member of the Breezewood Community Church.  She enjoyed sewing, art and individual spiritual bible studies.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. in the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home, Everett with Rev. Terry R. Major officiating.

Friends and Family will be received on Friday, September 15, 2017 at the Akers Funeral Home, 299 Raystown Road, Everett from 6-8 P.M. and on Saturday from 9:00 A.M. until the hour of service at the funeral home. 

Burial will be held at Providence Cemetery, Everett, PA.
