Gerald E. Snyder

Gerald E. Snyder, 64, of West Mattie Road, Everett, PA; passed away on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at UPMC Bedford Memorial Hospital.  He was born on August 8, 1952 in Cumberland, Maryland; a son of the late Palmer L. and Thelma Arlene (Mearkle) Snyder.  On June 21, 1971 in Breezewood, Pennsylvania he married his high school sweetheart Brenda L. (Calhoun) Snyder.

Along with his wife he is survived by daughter Roni married to Ronn Hess, Everett, PA; grandchildren Gregory Snyder and significant other Jamie Bush, Bedford, PA and Corinne Karns; a sister Louise D. married to Jim Holler, Buffalo Mills, PA; and four great friends Chet, Kevin, Chuck and John.

Gerald was of the Christian Faith.

He was a graduate of Everett Area High School Class of 1970, after graduation he served in the Pennsylvania National Guard from 1971-1978.

Mr. Snyder was employed at Your Building Center from 1970 to present as a contract sales representative serving as a liaison to venders and building contractors on the road.

He was a member of the Everett Masonic Lodge F.&A.M. No. 524 and former member of the Everett Volunteer Fire Company and Gold Wings Road Riders Association, in which he and his wife being two of the original members.

Gerald enjoyed traveling, restoring automobiles, golfing, home remodeling projects and especially his annual trips to Myrtle Beach with his wife.

Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home with Pastor H. Lee Ritchey officiating.

Family and Friends may call at Akers Funeral Home, Inc., 299 Raystown Road, Everett on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 from 4-8 P.M. and on Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service at the funeral home.  Everett Masonic Lodge will conduct services at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday evening.

Burial will be held privately.

If friends so desire the family request memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mr. Gerald Snyder to the American Cancer Society, 1004 North Juniata Street, Hollidaysburg, PA 16648.
