Eleanor W. Shambach

Eleanor W. Shambach, 94, of Everett, PA, passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2018.   She was born on November 8, 1923 in Brotherton, Pennsylvania; a daughter of the late George Albert and Leora Belle (Mankemeyer) Wright.  On March 18, 1947 in Everett, Pennsylvania; she married John M. Shambach Sr.  He preceded her in death on February 18, 2012.

She is survived by children John Shambach, Jr. married to Charlene, Melbourne, FL; Joni Whetstone, Altoona, PA; grandchildren Bradley Shambach married to Brooke, Aaron Shambach married to Renee and Leanna Meiser married to Will; great-grandchildren, Riley, Avery, Sophie and Liam.

Along with her husband she was preceded in death by a brother Alton Wright.

Eleanor was a graduate of Everett Area High School Class of 1940.  Alongside her husband she was owner and operator of the Sunset Hill Motel, Breezewood and Carolyn Courts in Everett.  She retired after selling the motels.  She enjoyed playing piano, organ, flute and the card game bridge.  Eleanor enjoyed cooking and was a licensed real estate agent. 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1401 12th Ave, Altoona, PA 16601, with Rev. Dr. Barry Folmar officiating.  Friends will be received from 1:00 P.M. until the hour of service. 

Burial will be held privately in Everett Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Eleanor to a charity of your choice.

We would also like to specially recognize Eleanor’s caregiver angels: Pam, Jesse, Trudy, Tammy, Sam and Rocky the Rottie.
