Eleanor M. (Mearkle) Clark

Eleanor M. Clark, 94, of Sunshine Road, Everett, PA; passed away on Friday, June 9, 2017 at Pennknoll Village.  She was born on October 19, 1922 in Clearville, PA; a daughter of the late Arthur and Laura (Grove) Mearkle.  She was united in marriage to Otis H. Clark, he preceded her in death on August 14, 1997.

She is survived by children Otis Dale Clark married to Linda (Smith), St. Augustine, FL; Palmer Delmas Clark married to April (Fox), Everett, PA; Clyde E. Clark married to Glena (Houseworth), Everett, PA; Duane Clark, Shippensburg, PA; Ivan L. Clark, Everett, PA and Carl M. Clark, Everett, PA;

seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by siblings Melvin married to Ruth Ann, Everett; Thelma Arlene married to Palmer Snyder, Clearville; Merle married to Jane, Altoona; Shirley married to Coy Means.

Eleanor worked alongside her husband and sons with the family dairy farm.

She played a large part in the dairy operations along with a large vegetable garden and all the house chores caring for a large family.  Her love was proven to us every day by the way she cared for her family.  When grandchildren and great grandchildren arrived she glowed with much pride.  Eleanor possessed strength in many ways, including not backing down from right or wrong.

Mrs. Clark attended Union Memorial Church until the church’s closing.

Eleanor enjoyed reading, until her eyesight failed and she had the most elegant penmanship of any we have ever seen.

She will be deeply missed.

Funeral Service will be held on Monday, June 12, 2017 at 7:00 P.M. in the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home with Pastor H. Lee Ritchey officiating.

Friends and Family may call at Akers Funeral Home, Inc., 299 Raystown Road, Everett on Monday, June 12, 2017 from 4-7 P.M.

Burial will be held privately at Union Memorial Cemetery.
