Eldon Roy "Pap" Taylor, 72, of Breezewood, died on August 18, 2017, at home. He is survived by the love of his life and wife of 53 years, Lyda (Warsing). He found his greatest joy spending time with her and with his family.
“Eldie” was born April 30, 1945 in Roaring Spring, the eldest son of Roy T. and Velma (Weist) Taylor. On July 2, 1964, he married Lyda Warsing in Breezewood. He worked as a coal miner at the Broad Top mine, before becoming a diesel mechanic, retiring from Gateway Travel Plaza. His hard work was always in service to his family, to whom he was endlessly loving and generous. An accomplished sportsman and marksman, Eldon earned several heavy varmint, .22 caliber, and trap shooting championships. He loved sharing these pursuits with his children and grandchildren. He was a lifetime member of the NRA and the Hopewell and Bedford Sportsman's Clubs.
Eldon was preceded in death by his parents, brother Lamont, and a daughter, Georgine Robinson. Eldon and Lyda raised grandchildren Eldon Tyler Taylor and, after their mother, Georgine's passing, Marty Robinson and Charity (Robinson) Ebbertts. In addition to his wife Lyda, "Dad" will be dearly missed by his children Paul Taylor and wife Michelle (Bush) of Wells Tannery and Melissa (Sleighter-Taylor) May and husband Timothy of Breezewood. "Pap" will also be dearly missed by his 7 grandchildren and families: Eldon Tyler Taylor, Alex Sleighter and husband Charles Codling, Marty Robinson and Cassie Cicala, Jonathen Taylor, Charity (Robinson) and husband Matt Ebbertts, Lacey Taylor, Libet Palacios, and Jacob May, as well as his 2 great-grandchildren, Julia and Madelyn Ebbertts.
Friends and Family will be received on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 from 10:00 AM until the hour of service at 11:00 AM at the Akers Funeral Home, Inc., 299 Raystown Road, Everett, PA 15537.

Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home with Pastor Robert Layman officiating.
