Don M. Elbin

July 9, 1951 ~ February 21, 2017 (age 65) 65 Years Old


Don M. Elbin, 65, of Beegle Road, Clearville, PA; passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at home with his wife by his side after a lengthy battle with prostate cancer.  He was born on July 9, 1951 in Cumberland, Maryland; a son of the late Marshall H. and Thelma Ruth (Shipley) Elbin.  On February 23, 2011 in Winchester, VA; he was united in marriage to Karen M. (Conley) Elbin.

Along with his wife he is survived by a son, Shawn Elbin married to Kami (Downes), Everett, PA; granddaughter Chloe Elbin and siblings Darlene Winck, Indian Lake, PA and Danny Elbin married to Linda (Leasure), Artemas, PA; several nieces and nephews; and his Clearville Hound Dog “Molly”.

He was preceded in death by a sister Diana Trail and a niece Amy Elbin.

Don was of the Protestant Faith.

He was a graduate of Everett Area High School Class of 1969.  After high school he worked at the Gulf Station in Breezewood before listing in the United States Army serving as Sergeant from 1971-1973 during the Vietnam War.  Throughout the years Don was employed as a supervisor at Shady Grove Manufacturing for twenty five years and later working at Appvion in Roaring Spring until his retirement in 2013.  While working at Appvion Don worked part-time at the Blair County Airport for a few years.

He was a member of the Chapman’s Run Hunting Club, Artemas American Legion Post No. 155 and Southern Cove Rod and Gun Club.

Don enjoyed fishing, hunting, tinkering in his garage and had a great interest in automobiles.

At Don’s request there will be no public services.
