Denver R. Nelson, 69, of South Milk & Water Road, Everett, passed away on Sunday, September 10, 2017 at home.  He was born on August 30, 1948 in Chaneysville, a son of the late Earl W. and Janet R. (Clark) Nelson.

He is survived by his son, Vaughn W. Nelson of Everett; Brothers: Roy D. Nelson of Everett, Robert W. Nelson and wife, Peggy of Breezewood; Sisters: Betty M. Clark and husband Stephen of Duluth, GA, and Ruth E. Sheirer and husband, John of Bedford. Nephews: Troy Nelson and wife Diane of Mattie; Dustin Clark and wife Laura of Winder, GA; and Zane Nelson, Breezewood. Nieces: Amy Nelson, Breezewood; Kristina Clark, Duluth, GA, Amanda Atherton and husband, Barry, Yatesboro; Great-Nieces: Alexis Nelson and Bailey Clark; Great-Nephews; Tanner Clark, Aaron Clark, Nicholas Atherton and Zachary Atherton. In addition to his parents his was predeceased by an infant brother, Donald Nelson, and nephew, Troy Clark.

Denver Served in the United States Army as a SP4 during the Vietnam War. He received two purple hearts and bronze metals. He was a member of the Everett American Legion Post No. 8, and the Breezewood V.F.W. Post No. 8333, Chaneysville Fire Hall and the Everett Redman Warnbic #507, (BRSC).

After returning home from his service to his country, he was employed by L.B. Foster and retired after forty plus years of service.

Denver was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed deer and squirrel hunting and attending shooting matches.

He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

Friends and family may call at the Akers Funeral Home, Inc., 299 Raystown Road, Everett on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 from 5-8 P.M. and one hour prior to the service on Thursday.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at 11:00 A.M.  in the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home with Pastor Ronald Hott officiating. Burial will be held at Bedford County Memorial Park with full military honors conducted by the Everett Area Honor Guard.

If friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mr. Nelson to defray funeral expenses in care of Akers Funeral Home.
