Audrey E. McCahan, 88 of Saxton, PA went to be with the Lord at 6:33 p.m. Sunday, November 26, 2017 after a courageous ten year battle with Parkinson's Disease with family at her side and the caring hands of the Staff at Homewood in Martinsburg.
Born October 25, 1929 in Saxton she was the daughter of the late William and Pearl (Morgan) Abbott. On July 29, 1950 she married Jack Tom McCahan at the Stonerstown Church of the Brethren in Saxton.
Mrs. McCahan is survived by her husband Jack, Daughter Debra (McCahan) Rourke and husband Warren. Grandchildren: Brady Rourke & wife Amanda of North Carolina, Amanda Rourke of Virginia, Corey Rourke & wife Amanda of Maryland, Matthew McCahan & wife Bree of Roaring Springs and Megan McCahan of Hollidaysburg. Greatgrandchildren: Brennon, Easton, Jackson & Jase Rourke and Kacen McCahan. Daughter-in-law Roberta (Kuhns) McCahan and Daughter-In-law Linda (Clapper) McCahan. She is also survived by a sister Donna McCahan of Saxton.
Many nieces & nephews including Bob McCahan of Saxton and Alice (Morgan) Salay of Aliquippa that were by her side throughout her life.
She was preceded in death June 23, 2017 by Son Ronald Dennis McCahan.
Audrey was of the Protestant Faith. She was an active member of the Stonerstown Church of the Brethren where she was the church pianist for 50 years in addition to conducting the adult and children's choir. She also conducted and played piano for many organizations throughout the area including the Broad Top Area Senior Citizens, The Over 50 Group and accompanied Ed Orestuk, an accomplished violinist at many functions.
Mrs. McCahan operated her own Cosmetology Business for 17 years from her home. She did volunteer work at The Village of Morrison's Cove in Martinsburg. She was faithful to her Lord being involved in many Bible Studies, Prayer Groups and assisting in any way.
She graduated from Saxton-Liberty High School.
Her pass times included watching Old Westerns and movies on tv. She especially enjoyed being around family and friends for Holidays and special occasions. Cooking, baking and traveling kept her busy most other times.
A funeral service will be held Friday, December 1, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at the Stonerstown Church. Visitation for friends will be from 2:00 - 3:00. Pastor Jack Russell will be officiating with interment following at the Grandview Cemetery in Saxton.
